What Do I Need To Register Car

Tips

Use Online Registration if you purchased your vehicle from a Nevada dealer and information technology is eligible.

You may obtain a movement let without an engagement at any DMV office. Bring all of the documents listed below.

Motor Carriers

Commercial vehicles greater than 26,001 pounds must exist registered through Motor Carrier.

Vehicles Purchased from a Nevada Dealer Vehicles Purchased from an Out-of-Land Dealer
  • Nevada Evidence of Insurance
  • Electronic Dealer Report of Sale (EDRS)
  • Nevada Emission Vehicle Inspection Report
    (If needed, this must be issued by the dealer)
  • Current Odometer Reading
  • Application for Vehicle Registration (VP 222)
    (If a third party registers the vehicle on behalf of the possessor)
  • Nevada Show of Insurance
  • Invoice or Beak of Auction, and one of the following:
    Title
    Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin
    Security Understanding
    Lease Agreement
  • Nevada Emission Vehicle Inspection Report
    (if needed)
  • VIN inspection
  • Current Odometer Reading
  • Awarding for Vehicle Registration (VP 222)
    (If a 3rd political party registers the vehicle on behalf of the owner)

Sales Taxes are paid to the dealer, based on the actual sales price.

Vehicle must be registered before the expiration engagement on the placard issued by the dealer.

Sales Taxes - Yous may or may not be charged sales tax at registration. Many dealers remit sales taxes directly to the DMV. Full Nevada taxes are due on vehicles purchased in Utah. See Out-of-State Dealer Sales.

Odometer Statement - Ensure the dealer completes this statement on the title or document of origin on 2011 or newer vehicles. A Secure Ability of Chaser or like statement is also acceptable.

    (If a tertiary party registers the vehicle on behalf of the possessor)

Vehicle must be registered within 30 days of the purchase. Sales taxes are not charged on "occasional" sales. The buyer must obtain insurance prior to driving the vehicle on any public street. A movement allow is required three days after the purchase. The seller should remove the license plates and transfer or surrender them. Complete a Bill of Sale for your records.

VIN inspections are done at DMV offices.  At larger offices, drive to the inspection station outside the main office first. No appointment is required.

Yous must visit a DMV Full Service Office to register a vehicle unless it is eligible for Online Registration. Make an date!

Liability Insurance Requirements
Out-of-land insurance is not accepted. You must obtain insurance from a Nevada Licensed Insurance Carrier and maintain the coverage for the entire fourth dimension the vehicle is registered in Nevada. Coverage is verified electronically with your insurance company.
